Dare County Sheriff’s Office blotter for March issued

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has issued the March 2023 blotter of felony crimes in unincorporated Dare County.

Ten crimes are listed. Hatteras Island has four listed as does Colington. Two crimes are listed on Roanoke Island.

March 1: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 42000 block of NC 12, Avon. Facebook/Ebay scam. Subject was tricked into sending money via gift cards. Under investigation.

March 4: Larceny. 57000 block of NC 12, Hatteras. Fishing rods stolen from the bed of a truck. Under investigation.

March 6: Financial Card Fraud. 100 block of Daphne Lane, Roanoke Island. Several unauthorized transactions on subject’s financial card. Under investigation.

Larceny. 50000 block of NC 12 Hwy, Frisco. Larceny of an electric bike. Upon follow up investigation it was determined the bike had been returned by an unknown person(s).

March 9: Financial Card Fraud. 100 block of Inlet Court, Colington. Unauthorized transaction from subject’s Google Pay account.

March 16: Larceny. 1000 block Colington Dr., Colington. Numerous street signs stolen from Colington Harbor property.

March 24: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 2000 block of Colington Rd., Colington. Victim sent scammers money as part of an online employment scam. Under investigation.

March 26: Larceny. 100 block of Bideford St., Roanoke Island. Victim reported her ring stolen during the night. Under investigation.

Larceny. 58000 block of Sutton Place, Hatteras. Victim reported her ring stolen from a rental house.

March 27: Financial Transaction Card Fraud. 300 block of Colington Rd., Colington. Scammers accessed financial accounts as a result of a fake Facebook Tech Support scam.
