Kill Devil Hills – Melissa T. Shearin, 54, passed away peacefully April 15, 2023 after a courageous journey through ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Missy, as she was best known, was at her Kill Devil Hills, NC home surrounded by everyone she loved. Missy was born and raised in Roanoke Rapids, NC. She was the daughter of the late Ronnie and Ann Taylor.

Missy eventually relocated to the Outer Banks where her family vacationed during her childhood. Dedicated and hardworking, Missy was a trusted team leader at several local businesses including the Manteo Subway, the Kill Devil Hills Hotline II store, and Duck Donuts in Corolla, NC. Outside of work, Missy enjoyed trying new restaurants, cruising, lounging on the beach, fishing, and boating. She was a strong, intelligent, and unique person who was loved by all who knew her.

Missy’s survivors include her son, David Taylor (LeAnn) of Halifax, NC; her sister, Christy Johnson (Allen) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her life partner and loving caregiver, Tony Petrucci of the Kill Devil Hills home; three grandchildren, Emerson, Brooklyn, and Gatlin all of Halifax, NC; two nephews, Cameron and Connor of Roanoke Rapids, NC; as well as a host of extended family members and dear friends.

The family will hold a celebration of Missy’s life Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Union Hall in Roanoke Rapids. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully suggests memorial donations to Adoration Home Health and Hospice of Dare County. Please share condolences with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
