Powells Point, NC – Sherry Lynn Laws, age 61, of Powells Point, NC, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at her residence. Born in Norfolk, VA on April 5, 1962, to Martha Rose Smith and the late, William Elroy Daniels, she was the wife of Mark E. Laws. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Radford University and was employed in various occupations throughout her life. Sherry worked as a flight attendant for Piedmont and US Airlines, mortgage broker, closing agent, executive assistant for the board of directors of LJT, a NASA contractor, and in retail sales at Miss Lizzie’s Boutique. She also worked as a volunteer for the Outer Banks History Center in Manteo, NC, where she catalogued Aycock Brown’s photo collection, among many other tasks. Sherry was a golf enthusiast and enjoyed Wednesday lunches and golf with the ladies, and Sunday couples golf at Kilmarlic Golf Club. She loved her days on the beach relaxing, tanning, shelling and sea glassing. She had a fabulous eye for fashion and décor which was reflected in her dress and home. Sherry loved all creatures great and small, especially her cats.

In addition to her spouse, Mark E. Laws, of sixteen years, she is survived by her mother, Martha Smith DeLong and stepfather, Richard DeLong, of Hertford, NC; stepmother, Ann Daniels, of Raleigh, NC; mother-in-law Charlotte Laws and the late Ed Laws of Virginia Beach; sister-in-law Teresa Slocom (Scott) of Virginia Beach; brother-in-law Brett Laws (Cyrstal) of Bradenton, FL; stepchildren daughter, Kelyn Youmans (Bryan) of Onancock, VA; stepsons, Kyle Laws (Emily) of Severna Park, MD; and Austin Laws (Jen) of Eldersburg, MD; sister, Celeste Le Prevost (Nick Vasile) of Doylestown, PA; nephews, Chris Le Prevost and Kyle Le Prevost (Kelly); niece Ryan Slocum Roberts (Doug) and daughter Mia Slocum of Virginia Beach; nephew Aaron Slocum of Louisburg, NC; stepsister, Valerie Nance, of Raleigh, NC; and stepbrothers, Adam Long (Liz) of Virginia Beach, VA; and Bobby Nance (Melissa) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Aiden, Olivia, Georgia-Paige, Charles, Violet, and Bryan II; dear friends, Keith & Karla Hutchins of Cape St. Claire, MD; Marilyn Allen, of Richmond, VA; and Willi Engel (Harry) of Virginia Beach, VA; special friends and golf buddies in the Kilmarlic neighborhood; and friends and coworkers at Miss Lizzie’s Boutique; She was preceded in death by stepmother, Eileen Daniels.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held May 20^th, 2 p.m. at Suburban Christian Church, 5132 Bellamy Manor Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
