Water quality swimming advisory lifted

The water quality swimming advisory at Sandy Bay on the Pamlico Soundside between Frisco and Hatteras has been lifted.
The state’s recreational water quality officials lifted the advisory May 11, 2023, after testing showed bacteria levels had dropped.
The Sandy Bay area was posted May 3 as result of tests taken May 1 and May 2.
The state’s Recreational Water Quality Program samples 215 sites in coastal waters of the state, most of them on a weekly basis from April through October.
