Grandy man arrested for speeding, DWI in stolen vehicle

A Grandy man is facing several charges after he was arrested following a stop for speeding in what turned out to be a stolen vehicle.

According to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, on May 7, 2023 at approximately 3 p.m., deputies working the B-District stopped a vehicle on US 64 just off of the Virginia Dare Bridge in Manns Harbor for speeding in excess of 100 mph.

“The driver was arrested for speeding and DWI at that time,” stated the release. “While dealing with the arrest the Deputies were able to determine that the vehicle was stolen from Wanchese, NC.”

Roger Lee Pritchett Jr., 42, of Grandy, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI, speeding 104/60, driving while license revoked, careless/reckless, felony larceny of motor vehicle and felony possession of stolen vehicle.

Pritchett was given a $101,000 secured bond.
