March 8, 1926 – June 7, 2023

Evelyn Swindell Sadler, 97, of Swan Quarter and most recently of Kernersville, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2023, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Mrs. Evelyn was born in Hyde County on March 8, 1926, to the late Cecil and Nina Caffee Swindell.  She was married to Gervis Sadler who preceded her in death.

She was a longtime member of Soule Methodist Church and worked as a substitute teacher in Hyde County public school system.

A funeral service will be held at Soule Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023. Pastor Jerald Craddock will officiate. Burial will follow at Soule Cemetery in Swan Quarter.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

She is survived by her son, Tony Sadler and wife Laurie of Manteo, and two daughters, Linda Smith and husband James of Kernersville, and Dana Miller and husband Allan of San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by all eight of her siblings: John Swindell, Thomas Swindell, Jessie Swindell, Kenneth Swindell, George Swindell, Nan Parks, Celia Swindell, and Kathrine Cahoon.
