After a six-month search for a pastor, Manteo Faith Baptist Church voted at a special congregational meeting held Sunday, June 4, 2023 to welcome Matthew Bryan as its interim pastor. Bryan accepted the invitation.
Bryan’s education includes a bachelor degree from University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He began his ministry as a youth pastor at Soundside Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia and then at Frying Pan Freewill Baptist Church, also in Columbia, where he still preaches every third Sunday of the month at 2 p.m. He has volunteered at Tyrrell County Volunteer Fire Dept., Habitat for Humanity and Bay Tree Lake Fire Dept. Bryan is currently employed full-time in forensic investigation and evidence management at the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.
Bryan and his wife Janet live in Columbia with their two children, Henry, 13, and Lilly Mae, 8. Janet has accepted a position as a teacher for the Manteo School District. Matt started ministry at MFBC on June 5 and preachED his first sermon as pastor on Sunday, June 11.
“Meet us at the Cross” for services at Manteo Faith Baptist Church, located at 1037 Burnside Road in Manteo. Services are held Sundays at 11 a.m. with the gathering dinner and study at 6 p.m. (except holiday weekends).
