John William Howland, 63, of Carova Beach, NC, was called home to our Lord on June 12, 2023, with his loving partner Marge by his side.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on July 20, 1959, he is the son of John Brewster Howland and Diane Kane Howland. He is survived by his parents and his two children, Dr. Kathryn Howland and James “Jake” Howland. John spent most of his young life in Milltown, New Jersey.

John graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Psychology. Following graduation, he had an esteemed and successful career as an Account Executive in Security Solutions for ODS Networks and IBM for over twenty years. His specialty was to oversee Internet installations for U.S. Military Global Operations.

John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved camping and motorcycles, a true outdoorsman. He had a passion for learning, reading and music. He even spent a year following his favorite band “The Grateful Dead”, a very special and memorable time of his life. In addition to his outdoor hobbies, John was a talented home designer. Two of his proudest projects were his personal residences in Carova, N.C.

John was loved by so many. His infectious smile and joyful presence in and around the Carova Beach Community will be greatly missed.
