Jarvisburg woman facing several charges following Kitty Hawk crash

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a Jarvisburg woman following a wreck in Kitty Hawk.

According to a DCSO press release, on May 25, 2023 at approximately 7 p.m., deputies working the A-District responded to a traffic crash at the Wright Memorial Bridge in Kitty Hawk.

“While at the scene a K-9 was deployed on the vehicles involved,” stated the release. “The K-9 alerted to the presence of an illegal substance on one of the vehicles and it was searched. During the search an amount of adderall, xanax, dextroamphetamine, and marijuana were located and seized. The driver of that vehicle provided false information to the Deputies and was arrested.”

The driver was identified as Precious Ella McDowell, 25, of Jarvisburg. She was charged with felony identity theft, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a schedule II, IV, VI controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor resist/delay/obstruct and misdemeanor fictitious information to an officer.

McDowell was given a $59,000 secured bond.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol assisted in this incident.
