Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and Kinnakeeter, Mary Jane Scarborough, joined hands once again with her husband in heaven, June 29, 2023. She was born in Avon, NC to Ervin Farrow Sr. And Mabel Farrow Meekins on September 9, 1936. Later a step-father, Reginald Meekins, entered her life. Besides Mary’s beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Mabel Ann O’Reilly and two of her brothers, Charlie Farrow and Ervin Farrow.

Mary was the mother of four daughters; Juanita Scarborough and her husband Hallas Sr. of Avon; Patricia and Esther Scarborough of Avon; granddaughters Kimberly Dawn Scarborough of Avon and Lindsay Nicole O’Reilly who was raised in the home. Also surviving is grandson, Hallas Scarborough Jr. of Avon; one brother, Roy Farrow and wife, Barbara, also of Avon as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other loved ones. Everyone that knew Mary Jane, loved them. She could always be seen cruising the streets of Kinnakeet, talking to all she met along the way.

Mary had a passion for food and nourishing others. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in her honor, to our island organization “Meals on Wheels.” The funeral will be held Monday July 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. John United Methodist Church in Avon. The Reverend Gina Miller will officiate. The burial will be private. Please share condolences with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
