The Chesapeake Hospital Authority awarded 10 scholarships to graduating seniors from Chesapeake and northeast North Carolina high schools during their annual scholarship awards dinner held June 22, 2023. Each recipient received a $5,000 scholarship to further their education in healthcare.
“This is a highly competitive group of students,” said Sandra Baynes, chair of the Chesapeake Hospital Authority Scholarship Committee. “The students we selected have demonstrated academic success, good character, and a desire to enter the healthcare field. We wish them well in their future careers.”
The students will be attending a four-year college or university in the fall. They were selected based on academic records, character references, community service, interest in the health sciences and financial need.
Local Chesapeake Hospital Authority 2023 scholarship recipients are: Casia Enseñat, Cape Hatteras Secondary School, who will attend Appalachian State University for nursing; Daisy Brava, First Flight High School, who will attend UNC Charlotte for nursing; Ayden Griffin, Manteo High School, who will attend Pfeiffer University for exercise science; Haley Dozier, Currituck County High School, who will attend Western Carolina University for sports medicine.
