Desperado takes top spot in 20th Annual Dare County Boat Builders Tournament

The Dare County Boat Builders Foundation has announced the winners of its 20th annual tournament that took place at Pirates Cove Marina July 26-29, 2023.

First place went to the 56’ Taylor Harrison Desperado, whose crew released a total of six sailfish and one blue marlin for a total of 700 points on time.

Second place went to Ann Warwick, a 76’ Paul Mann, with 700 points.

Third place went to Fender Bender, a 55’ Jarrett Bay, with 600 points.

Fourth place went to Cuervos, a 58’ Tribute, with 400 points on time.

Fifth place went to Tarheel, a 62’ Bayliss, with 400 points.

“The Boat Builders Foundation is excited and proud to have reached our 20th year doing this and has been able to award over $1 million dollars in scholarships to Dare County Students,” stated the announcement. “We could not have done this without the support of our wonderful community, sponsors, participants, volunteers, and our supportive board of directors.
