‘Turn Back’ grounds on Cape Hatteras National Seashore just north of Oregon Inlet

The National Park Service has reported the grounding of a boat along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

According to the National Park Service, a 42-foot vessel named “Turn Back” grounded on the beach Wednesday morning, September 6, 2023 approximately one mile north of Oregon Inlet. There were no injuries reported among the three people who were on board the vessel when it came to shore at some time after 7:30 a.m.

The National Park Service is consulting with the U.S. Coast Guard and working with the owner to have the vessel removed from the beach before or around Wednesday afternoon’s high tide.
