Shellfish harvesting open in most areas

North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation PA-83-2023 returned all shellfish harvesting waters in Hyde, Dare, New Hanover and Onslow counties to status prior to the Aug. 31, 2023 temporary closures.

The proclamation became effective at sunrise, Friday, Sept. 15, 2023.

Certain areas in Onslow, Hyde, Brunswick and Pender counties remain closed. Areas mentioned as closed are the Intracoastal Waterway, Stump Sound, Alligator Bay, West Bluff Bay, Juniper Bay and Tubbs Inlet area. Check the proclamation for coordinates for exact demarcation of the closed areas.
