Tracy Wilkins from Northampton County changes the speed limit sign to 45 miles per hour in Waves on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023.
On Hatteras Island, speed limits are reduced during the summer.
Speed limits are increased to 45 miles per hour in Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon and Frisco and increased to 55 miles per hour between Avon and Buxton and Frisco and Hatteras.
