College of The Albemarle has announced that its Academic Support Center’s (ASC) tutoring program has been awarded a Level 1 Certification from the internationally recognized College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). “This is a significant achievement, underscoring COA’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and enhancing student success,” noted the COA announcement.

For over 30 years, CRLA has been a leader in learning assistance, reading and academic support programs and has nearly 1,300 members and over 2,000 certified training programs worldwide.

Achieving this recognition involved a process where the Academic Support Center strived diligently to align its tutor training program with the stringent standards set forth by the CRLA. Following a peer review process under the International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC), the ASC emerged successfully, showcasing its commitment to quality and excellence in educational support. It further establishes the ASC as a hub where students receive service that is enriching and aligned with the highest academic tutoring standards.
