Chad Williams, First Flight High School’s athletic director, was honored with the coveted Charlie Adams Distinguished Service Award by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA). This prestigious award was presented during NCHSAA’s annual regional meeting this fall.

The Charlie Adams Distinguished Service Award, named in honor of the esteemed former NCHSAA executive director, is bestowed upon one standout individual in each region annually. Williams received the award for Region 1 and is one out of only eight recipients to receive this recognition in North Carolina.

Recipients of this award are required to have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of education and athletics and should still be actively involved in these domains. Awardees exhibit exceptional commitment at both local and state levels.

For nearly two decades, Williams’ dedication and outstanding contributions have made an impact on students in the classroom and on the court as the head basketball coach,” stated the Dare County Schools announcement of the award.

“We are extremely proud of Coach Williams and tremendously pleased he received this recognition,” stated DCS Superintendent Steve Basnight. “Coach Williams has not only built a formidable basketball program at First Flight High School, but he can regularly be found volunteering throughout our community.
