Dare County Schools has announced that Trasa Rossi is the honored recipient of this year’s Teacher of Excellence award.

Rossi is an exceptional children teacher at First Flight Middle School. She was selected by the district’s exceptional children support team for her contributions to First Flight Middle School and to the community. Director of exceptional children’s services Dr. Reida Roberts presented Rossi with the award during the school day on Sept. 19.

“Trasa is deserving of this recognition because she works tirelessly for our students with special needs, always respecting the dignity and unique needs of the students with whom she serves,” stated Roberts. “Trasa maintains a demeanor of optimism and professionalism even when others are feeling deflated.”

The Teacher of Excellence Award was created by the Council for Exceptional Children to celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding educators of students with disabilities. This award recognizes teachers who demonstrate excellence in meeting the needs of exceptional children.
