The Manteo Preservation Trust (MPT) will hold the 16th Holiday Tour of Homes on Saturday, December 2. MPT sponsors the tour to encourage the public’s understanding and appreciation of the historic heritage of Manteo and Roanoke Island, both architecturally and culturally. The Holiday Tour of Homes is one of the highlights of a festive weekend of events in Manteo including the town’s holiday pageant and tree lighting on Friday evening, the Christmas parade on Saturday morning (50+ years running) and Christmas on the North End at Island Farm on Saturday afternoon.

This year’s tour features 11 properties, a mix of lovingly restored historic homes, newer ones and several significant business properties, all beautifully decorated for the season. As always, the tour route is easily walkable (or bikeable, with Manteo Cyclery providing free bikes for use).

Those who want a quick check-in on the day of the tour may buy tickets online now at manteopreservation.com then just stop into 108 Budleigh on tour day to get the tour brochure, which will serve as a ticket. Or purchase tickets on the day of the tour at 108 Budleigh starting at 10 a.m. The ticket price is $25. Artisans from College of The Albemarle will be set up at 108 Budleigh to sell their wares. Come early for the parade, then shop, dine and bring in your holiday season Roanoke Island-style.

The tour begins at 1 p.m., and homeowners will be welcoming participants in at that time.
