Outer Banks Forever, the official nonprofit partner of Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and Wright Brothers National Memorial and in partnership with REAL Watersports, Sysco and Atlantic Union Bank on Hatteras Island, has announced that $25,526 was raised on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2023.

“We were so humbled by the generosity of our Outer Banks Forever community yesterday,” said Jessica Barnes, director of Outer Banks Forever, on Wednesday. “It truly shows how deeply they love our national parks and want to see them continue to inspire us for generations to come.”

In just 24 hours, Outer Banks Forever donors raised $13,026 in response to its “$25K in 24 Hours” Giving Tuesday matching challenge. With a $12,500 match from REAL Watersports, Sysco and Atlantic Union Bank on Hatteras Island, that total grew to $25,526.

Funds raised from the Giving Tuesday matching challenge will help Outer Banks Forever and the three Outer Banks national parks support and inspire the next generation through projects like Pathways to Your National Parks, which will make the Cape Hatteras Light Station more accessible and family friendly with a new multi-use path and a new restroom and shower facility at Old Lighthouse Beach.

Outer Banks Forever expressed special thanks to business sponsors for their support on Giving Tuesday: REAL Watersports, $5,000; Sysco, $5,000; Atlantic Union Bank, $2,500; Carolina Brewery, $2,500; City Beverage Company Inc., $1,500.
