Kill Devil Hills home fire contained, residents and cats safe

The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department responded on December 9, 2023, at 5:37 p.m. to a report of a structure on the 2600 block of Raymond Ave.

“The fire was contained; however, it caused damage to the hall bathroom ceiling. All occupants safely got out of the home, including two cats,” noted a Kill Devil Hills Fire Department news release. Firefighters Michael Phan and Jason Woolard rescued one of the cats, Sugar, while the other cat made its way out.

Fire crews from Colington and Kitty Hawk assisted in the operation and the Kill Devil Hills Police Department and Dare County EMS were also on scene to provide aid.
