Currituck Chamber of Commerce honors contributions at annual meeting, awards ceremony

The Currituck Chamber of Commerce gathered in a celebration of excellence and community impact during its annual meeting and awards ceremony hosted at OBX West KOA Event Center, showcasing a celebration of excellence and community impact.

Chamber president Josh Bass delivered an economic status briefing, spotlighting essential aspects like housing, sewer, employment and the host of remarkable assets within Currituck County. Bass told attendees, “that the community needed to have a voice in the growth and development of Currituck County and the region. That the community is at a critical crossroads, and we need to determine what path we want to take and it’s vital for all to be involved in the conversation.”

The event also recognized outstanding individuals and businesses for their significant contributions to the local community. “Congratulations to all the 2023 Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award winners! Each recipient embodies the essence of excellence, innovation, and dedication in their field,” said Bass. “Their remarkable achievements serve as an inspiration, reflecting the vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to success within our local business community.”

Award recipients were:

  • Regional Citizen of the Year Award: Clark Twiddy
  • Corporate Community Service Award: Twiford Funeral Homes
  • Small Business Award (10 or less employees): Family First In-Home Personal Care
  • Small Business Award (10 or more employees): Morris Farm Market
  • Citizen of the Year: Sandi Ayres
  • Non-Profit of the Year: Food Bank of the Albemarle
  • President’s Awards: Albemarle Area United Way and April Bennett

Outgoing board member Lynn Davis was commended for eight years of dedicated service on the Currituck Chamber Board of Directors.

“The Currituck Chamber of Commerce extends its heartfelt appreciation to Laura Walters Photography for capturing the memorable moments, Outer Banks West KOA for hosting the event, Kelly’s Outer Banks Catering for providing delightful cuisine, and to all attendees for their invaluable presence and support,” stated the announcement from the Currituck Chamber.
