A group of Beaufort County Community College TRIO/Student Support Services scholars were led in the True Colors discovery of their personality traits. Kimberly Riddick, a Pitt Community College counselor and certified by True Colors International, facilitated the exercise that guided in the discovery process.

The True Colors exercise is based on years of research about personality commonalities and differences. Although an individual may have one dominant personality style, each person is a unique blend of the four colors or styles and there are wide variations within each color range.

TRIO scholars who participated in the exercise expressed an appreciation of the exercise and shared that it brought about self-awareness and more empathy for others. After discovering their personality color, each color group gathered to discuss common traits which was an affirming and supporting experience. The list of traits was shared with humor and grace. The blue group even added a song, “Hallelujah, Anyhow,” led by TRIO scholar Janvelle Sutton, to share their uniqueness.
