The Dare County Health & Human Services Foster Care Program partnered again this holiday season with the Outer Banks Hospital and Pirate’s Cove, which sponsored more than 30 foster children to make Christmas special and magical.

Each year, children in the program create Christmas lists and those lists are given to the Outer Banks Hospital and Pirate’s Cove. Hospital staff and members of the community, through Pirate’s Cove, purchase gifts to fulfill the children’s wish list.

“We are so grateful for our sponsors’ support each year and their commitment to making the holiday season brighter for local foster children,” said DHHS’s Kelsey Fernandez, who oversees the efforts. “They really make a difference in the lives of the children, and put a smile on their faces with their generous gifts.”

Pirate’s Cove also donated $3,500 this year to Dare County’s Foster Children’s Fund, allowing the Foster Care Program to purchase special things for the children throughout the year.
