All Dare County offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024 in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday.

The Dare County C&D Landfill, Buxton Transfer Station and Manteo Recycle Yard will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. These sites will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.

Dare County Public Works – which provides trash collection for the unincorporated areas of Dare County, as well as the Town of Kitty Hawk – has announced a revised collection schedule for the week of Monday, Jan. 1 through Friday, Jan. 5, 2024 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

Residential trash collection for next week will be:

• Monday, Jan. 1:Closed – No trash collection.
• Tuesday, Jan. 2:Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.
• Wednesday, Jan. 3:Manteo, Wanchese, Manns Harbor, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon.
• Thursday, Jan. 4:Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.
• Friday, Jan. 5:Manteo, Wanchese, Manns Harbor, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon.

Commercial trash collection will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 2 and Friday, Jan. 5. Normal commercial trash collection schedules will resume on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024.
