Simpson – MaThein Turlington, 91, formerly of Kill Devil Hills, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2023 with her daughters by her side. “Mom on the Move,” a traveling Celebration of Life visiting family and friends across the country will be held in place of a formal memorial service.

MaThein, a native of Minnesota, moved frequently as a child due to her father’s employment as a printer, which included living in Myanmar (Burma). She spent most of her teenage and young adult life in Northern California where she worked as an elementary school teacher. MaThein was very active in her retirement, serving as a volunteer with hospice, Meals on Wheels, and various other community services throughout Eastern North Carolina. She enjoyed life through travel, water aerobics, spending time with family and simply having fun.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Turlington; son, Christopher Dale; her beloved friend of 10 years, Mr. Paul Binder; and all four of her siblings.
