Roanoke Island Garden Club’s first meeting in the new year will convene at 11:45 a.m. on January 4, 2024 at the College of The Albemarle Manteo campus.

At noon, Joan Collins, board member of the Pea Island Preservation Society, will present a program on Richard Etheridge and the surfmen of the Pea Island Lifeguard Station. She will share information on the historic all-black USLSS (United States Life-Saving Service Station, now known as United States Coast Guard).

Following the program and refreshments, a business meeting will be held.

The meeting is open to the public and membership is offered to interested individuals.
