Kaylyn Varner named Outer Banks Health Employee of the Month

Kaylyn Varner, certified nursing assistant I on the Medical Surgical Unit, was named the Outer Banks Health Employee of the Month for December 2023.

Varner joined Outer Banks Health in January 2023. Since joining the team, “she has displayed unparalleled compassion towards her patients by ensuring their experience is exceptional. Her calm demeanor provides comfort to patients when they are sick, in pain, or feeling lonely,” stated the announcement from Outer Banks Health. “Varner is also a large champion of safety. She pays close attention to detail and initiates interventions for all patients who may be a high fall risk.”

The announcement noted that Varner is a model for self-improvement and professional growth. She is currently enrolled at College of The Albemarle and will be applying for the associate degree in nursing program this January.

“She is also a shining example of teamwork and leadership for her department,” stated the announcement. “She is an amazing partner to the nurses she is working with, while allows them more time to spend with their patients. Additionally, she has taken on additional duties and recently began precepting new CNAs on the unit. Her dedication to working from her heart shows in everything she does.”
