Hatteras Island Meals received a $10,000 check from Steve Jones of Tavern on 12 in December.

The funds were raised through an event sponsored by One Simple Highway and Tavern on 12 on Friday, Nov. 24. The event featured the Ashville-based bluegrass supergroup, The Songs from the Road Band.

The event was held at the Hatteras Village Civic Center in Hatteras Village. Funds were raised through admission ticket sales, a 50/50 raffle and beer and wine sales. A buffet dinner, prepared and delivered by the staff at Tavern on 12, was also included. Featured was North Carolina barbecue, mac-n-cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, steamed shrimp, rolls and desert.
