Snow bunting, minus the snow

A snow bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis) dines on sea oats on Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. Snow buntings breed in the high Arctic tundra and sometimes visit the Outer Banks in winter, preferring sandy areas with dunes.
