In a year of unprecedented accomplishments for the NC 3A state champion First Flight boys soccer team, one more has been added to the list.

United Soccer Coaches, the world’s largest soccer coaches’ association, has announced FFHS coach Juan Ramirez as the 2023 Boys Fall Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year for Large Public Schools. Among hundreds of soccer programs, the Mid-Atlantic region includes large schools from Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Carolina.

“It’s never been a goal of mine to achieve such high-level individual recognition, but I am truly honored. As a Coach, I have always looked at the character of my players, their success on and off the field, and their commitment to each other as the true measure of my success,” said Ramirez.
