Lane closures required for CHEC work to inspect bridge cables

Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative’s contractor, New River Electrical, will conduct a routine inspection of the conduit and electric cables attached to the Oregon Inlet and Rodanthe bridges from Jan. 22 through Jan. 25, 2024.

The bridges will remain open to traffic during the inspections. However, motorists should expect daytime lane closures on the Rodanthe Bridge on Monday, Jan. 22 and Tuesday, Jan. 23, followed by lane closures on the Basnight Bridge over Oregon Inlet on Wednesday, Jan. 24 and Thursday, Jan. 25, weather permitting.

The closures will be no longer than one-half mile long, and flaggers will alternate traffic direction during the closure.
