Information sought in Columbia shooting death

The Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from the public in connection with a shooting death that occurred over the weekend.

According to information from TCSO, on Saturday, February 3 at around 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to South Road St. near Railroad St. in Columbia for shots fired.

“When deputies arrived they found 25 year old Keshawn Spruill on the ground with a gunshot wound,” stated TCSO. “Spruill later succumbed to his injuries while enroute to the hospital.”

Spruill, of Columbia, was being transported by ambulance to ECU Health Chowan Hospital when he died.

TCSO Investigator Frank Mitchell said the public is being asked to call in or send messages if they have information. Those providing information can remain anonymous.

Those with information should call the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office at 252-796-2251.
