Injuries reported in two Elizabeth City shootings

The Elizabeth City Police Department has reported on two shooting incidents with injuries over the weekend.

According to a news release issued Saturday night, on February 3, 2024 at around 2:20 p.m., ECPD officers responded to a shot fired call at the 1800 block of Weeksville Road. Officers located a 38-year-old male subject with a gunshot injury. He was transported to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City.

“Officers have located several shell casings and are currently reviewing video footage from the surrounding areas,” noted the release.

In a separate news release issued Sunday evening, ECPD reported that on February 3 at around 10:47 p.m., ECPD officers responded to a shot fired call in the area of Tatem Lane. Officers arrived in the area and were later directed to a male subject with a gunshot wound at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City. “Officers located a 30 years of age victim with non-life threatening injuries,” stated the release.

“Officers determined this incident occurred in the area of Cahoon Street and Butlers Lane were several shell casings recovered,” the release continued.

Both investigations are active and ongoing. ECPD urges anyone with additional information to contact the Elizabeth City Police Department at 252-335-4321 or the Crime Line at 252-335-5555. “All information received will remain anonymous and strictly confidential,” stated ECPD.
