Elizbeth City man sentenced following plea to second degree murder

The Honorable R. Andrew Womble sentenced Trevor Dybowski on January 16, 2024 to 94 to 120 months in prison with 1,225 days credit after a guilty plea to second degree murder, according to a news release from the Elizabeth City Police Department.

Dybowski, 20, of Elizabeth City, is now in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.

“On August 22, 2020, at approximately 3:47 p.m. officers with the Elizabeth City Police Department responded to the area of 607 South Road Street in reference to a report of a subject that sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen,” stated the release. “Officers arrived on scene and located the victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center and later airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.”

The victim was identified as Dominique Maxwell Daquizan, 19, of Elizabeth City.
