Dr. Jason Lisle, a Christian astrophysicist, will be at Manteo Baptist Church during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday School session on March 3 to talk about dinosaurs and what the Bible says about them.

Lisle will continue his discussion at the 11 a.m. church session with a focus on the importance of Genesis, follow that with a 6:30 p.m. presentation Sunday evening on how science confirms Biblical creation, and conclude his Outer Banks appearance with a 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, explanation on how astronomy reveals creation.

Each of the four sessions are open to anyone interested in hearing a reasoned defense against those who might distort the Word of God, noted organizers.

Following the three Sunday sessions, a children’s Bible study session on Genesis 1 and 2 will take place March 4-8 in the Manteo Baptist Church Family Life Center from 3:15 to 5 p.m.

According to Caroline Stetson, one of the event organizers, a church van will pick up interested students ages 8-12 from school each day. Plans are to have a snack, a physical exercise activity, science experiment activity and study of scripture each day. All study and science materials will be provided. Parents can pick up their children at the Family Life Center at 5 p.m.

A popular speaker and author, Lisle is known for presenting a rational defense of a literal Genesis, and for showing how science confirms the history recorded in the Bible in a world that widely accepts the theory of evolution and views the Bible account with hostility. Lisle double-majored in physics and astronomy with a minor in mathematics at Ohio Wesleyan University and went on to obtain a master’s degree and Ph.D. in astrophysics at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He has authored a number of best-selling books on the topic of creation, including: Taking Back Astronomy, Stargazer’s Guide to the Night Sky, the Ultimate Proof of Creation, Discerning Truth, and Understanding Genesis.
