The Hyde County Board of Commissioners accepted a donation of $50,000 from Rose Acre Farms at their February meeting.

Commissioners Earl Pugh Jr. and Jan Moore, along with EMS Chief John Wilson, accepted the donation from Rose Acre Farms employees Abraham Ricardez, Phyllis Ricardez and Nick Menzel. These funds are being used toward the purchase of a new ambulance.

Hyde County Board Chairman Earl Pugh Jr. stated, “Hyde County is beyond thankful to Rose Acre Farms for their kind donation and interest in supporting our communities. Hyde County EMS has recently made great strides and the new ambulances will advance their system’s momentum by improving their ability to respond to the needs of our residents and visitors. We are beyond proud of how our EMS staff has recovered from past obstacles and has greatly improved the level of service, care, teamwork, leadership, and community within Hyde County EMS. ”

Hyde County EMS Chief John Wilson stated, “We are immensely grateful for the generous donation that has fueled the growth and stabilization of the Hyde County EMS system. This contribution not only enhances our capacity to respond swiftly to emergencies but also strengthens the safety and well-being of our community members. Together, we are building a more resilient EMS infrastructure that ensures every resident receives the critical care they deserve in times of need.”

“Hyde County is one of the largest counties in the state geographically and must travel to neighboring counties for emergency room services,” stated a Hyde County news release. “The addition of this new ambulance into the Hyde County EMS fleet will mean continued reliable medical services to Hyde County’s citizens and visitors alike.”

“Emergency services are essential to communities, and we were glad to help our friends in Hyde County purchase a new ambulance,” said Tony Wesner, chief operating officer of Rose Acre Farms. “Our Hyde County farm is one of our largest egg production facilities, and Hyde County itself covers a large area, so it was a natural fit to lend our support to ensure Hyde County’s emergency services grow.”
