Kindergarten registration is for children who will be five years old by August 31, 2024. Registration is online only at daretolearn.org. The registration by phone is not recommended.

On Tuesday at each school, computers will be available to start or complete registration. Help will be available onsite from Children and Youth Partnership staffers.

One document requires a notary public and one will be available at each school.

Bring to the event the child’s birth certificate, immunization record and proof of residency. A health assessment transmittal form is online and requires a health care professional’s examination and signature.

After completing the online registration process, copies of required documents still need to be sent to the child’s elementary school. Students will not be officially enrolled until these documents are received by mail or in-person.

Public computers are also available at all Dare County libraries. The instructions indicated that filling out the form will take about 30 minutes.

The attendance zones for elementary schools are as follows:

First Flight Elementary School: Area between Ocean Bay Boulevard and Airstrip Road

Kitty Hawk Elementary School: Area north of Cameron Street

Nags Head Elementary School: All of the Town of Nags Head and the following areas in Kill Devil Hills: from Cameron Street south to Ocean Bay Boulevard and from Airstrip Road/Calvin Street south to 8th street

Manteo Elementary School: Roanoke Island and Dare County mainland
