Devil’s pocketbooks, witch’s purses and mermaid purses are all names for the horned egg sacks of sharks, skates and rays. They can be found on beaches along the Outer Banks and some people believe finding one is good luck! This clearnose skate case was spotted just south of Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head.
