Monica and Thomas Pyles, right, used a kernel of corn for bait to catch this nice big black drum, a 24.5-inch beauty on Monday at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head. Nearby, Freddie Kuhn of Dinwiddie, Va., left, caught and later released this healthy 32-inch red drum. Northeast winds were at 24 knots and the sea surface temp 58 degrees.
