Stumpy Point man arrested for felony murder

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a Stumpy Point man for felony murder.

According to a DCSO news release, on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 8:53 p.m., “the Dare County Sheriff’s Office received a call to Dare Central Communications in reference to a traffic accident in the 100 block area of Bayview Drive in Stumpy Point.

“The caller advised Communications that the driver of the vehicle was bleeding and had been stabbed with a knife. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dare County E.M.S.,” stated the release.

DCSO stated that after conducting an investigation, Tanner L. Thrasher, of Stumpy Point, was arrested for felony murder.

Thrasher is being held as of Tuesday afternoon at the Dare County Detention Center under a $800,000 secured bond.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol assisted in the incident.
