The North Carolina Education Lottery has reported a six-figure win by a Craven County man in a recent Cash 5 drawing.
Marvin Thomas, of New Bern, took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket Sunday night, May 19, 2024 and won a $120,000 jackpot. Thomas bought his lucky ticket from Fairfield Fuel Market on Broad Creek Road in New Bern. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 962,598.
He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Wednesday, May 22 in Raleigh and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $85,800.
