Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

On Tuesday, June 25, 12 players and three coaches from the Outer Banks will be checking in to one of the most memorable experiences of a lifetime. The OBX Whitecaps 12U team will be competing at Cooperstown Dreams Park in the 2024 American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament. This group of boys have been playing together since they were 8 and 9 years old. They put in the hard work and dedication to overcome losing their first season to winning seasons for the past two years with an overall record of 35-26-4. They won the Championship title in the Cat 5 (Outer Banks) and Spring Fling (Chesapeake) tournaments and were awarded Runner-Up in the Summer Slam (Chesapeake) and Top Prospect’s North Carolina State (Barco) tournaments. Through wins and losses, errors and home runs, they have become nothing less than a family.

The Whitecaps have had tremendous support over the years from the community and local businesses and could not have made this dream a reality without them. For this, the team is truly appreciative. The boys were able to raise more than $16k through hit-a-thons, raffles and sponsorships, just $6500 shy of their goal. They are still accepting donations through Venmo @OBX-Whitecaps or emailĀ obxwhitecaps@gmail.com. Follow OBX Whitecaps Youth Travel Baseball on Facebook and obxwhitecaps on Instagram or OBX Whitecaps 12U on GameChanger for live game updates.

Congratulate these players when you see them around town: Van Davis, Noah Dondero, Brooks Dunn, Ozzie Finch, Gavin Gillespie, David Newell, Luke Newell, Graham Perrot, Sawyer Shelton, Silas Shelton, Grey Stine and Kaiden Taylor; with head coach Mike Dunn and assistants Dien Davis and Sam Finch.
