Cape Hatteras Secondary basketball teams record wins

Cape Hatteras Secondary Hurricanes basketball teams posted wins against Bear Grass Charter and split decisions against Mattamuskeet this past week.

The Lady Hurricanes remain undefeated at 12-0 in the Atlantic 5 conference. The girls won over Bear Grass 71-15 and over Mattamuskeet 60-17.

Leading scorers in the Bear Grass Charter game were Emma Delmonte with 18, Lexus Meekins with 12 and Sophie Waterfield with 10. In the Mattamuskeet game, Delmonte led Cape Hatteras scorers with 15, followed by Meekins with 13 and Chloe Flythe with 11.

In Bear Grass Charter v. Cape Hatteras boys game, the game ended with scoring at 56 for Cape Hatteras and 37 for Bear Grass. However, the win is recorded as a forfeit by Bear Grass.

Bear Grass Charter started the game with seven players. In the fourth quarter, two players fouled out and two were ejected, leaving the Bear Grass team with three players. The team decided not to continue playing.

At the Monday Feb. 10 games against Bear Grass, Cape Hatteras saluted its senior players. Following the boys game, the Cape Hatteras Homecoming Court was presented.

Leading scorers for Cape Hatteras in the abbreviated game were José Cirisa with 22 and Dylan Gray with 13.

On Thursday night, Mattamuskeet defeated Cape Hatteras 56-39. Cirisa scored 15 and Gray 10 in the defeat.

The Atlantic 5 Conference tournament semi-finals will be held at Cape Hatteras Secondary, Wednesday, Feb. 19. At 6 p.m., the Cape Hatteras girls will play the winner of a game between Ocracoke and Mattamuskeet, which is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 17 at Mattamuskeet.

The Cape Hatteras boys team will play Ocracoke, also on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
