A Powells Point woman died Monday morning from injuries in a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 158 in Point Harbor.

According to Sgt. D. W. Weaver with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, witnesses confirmed that the driver of a 2013 Honda CRV pulled out of the Kempsville Lumber Company parking lot to go south on US 158 in front of a north bound 2018 Ryder Freightliner truck. The truck driver had no time to avoid a collision with the Honda, stated Weaver.

A female driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, a passenger in the Honda, was transported to Norfolk for treatment to his injuries. At last report, he was said to be in critical condition.
