Allan Martin Behrends, 68, of Suffolk, VA died at his home in Avon on April 26, 2019.

Allan was born in Humboldt, Nebraska on June 30, 1950. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the US Navy, serving four years. Upon separation from the armed service, he began a long career in the commercial HVAC industry. In 1991 he formed Behrends Mechanical Inc.  Behrends Mechanical operated successfully as a family owned business until he retired in 2018.

Allan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Jean Behrends; son Brad Allan Behrends and wife Amanda Doyle Behrends of Suffolk; daughter Heather Jean Craun and son-in-law Grayson William Craun of Suffolk; daughter Kathryn Lori Behrends of Virginia Beach; granddaughter Hannah Jean Craun and grandsons Tyler Gray and Nathan Allan Craun; mother Irma Oestmann of Palm Springs, Calif. and other family and friends.

Allan is preceded in death by his father Allister Behrends, brother Michael Behrends and sister-in-law Lisa Behrends.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
