Roger Venton Best

Roger Venton Best, 84, of Stumpy Point died Friday, October 12 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

A native of Stumpy Point, he was born July 11, 1934, to the late Thelma Hooper Best and Guy Venton Best.

A Korean War veteran, Roger served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corps. He spent his career as a commercial fisherman, was very active at Bayview Chapel and an Elder of the church.

Roger is survived his wife Wanda Midgett Best; daughter Cathy Elliot (John); son Roger Scott Best (Lisa); grandchildren Patrick Capps and Maggie Howard (Andy) and a great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 20 at Bayview Chapel with Pastor Dean Jarvis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bayview Chapel, 283 Bayview Drive, Stumpy Point, NC 27978.
