Joyce Midgett Etheridge

Joyce Midgett Etheridge, 77, of Manteo died Tuesday, October 9 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Etheridge was born in Glynn County, Ga. to the late Annabelle McDonald and Seldon Midgett.

She served as the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Pre-School assistant, was hostess at RV’s Restaurant (Sugar Creek Restaurant) and was a member of the Nannie Midgett Circle, the Roanoke Island Woman’s Club and the Sunday night Pizza Hut Club.

Mrs. Etheridge is survived by daughters Christine Walker and husband Tucker of Manteo and Amy Crawford and husband Geraldof Manteo; three grandchildren, Alex Etheridge, Annabelle Walker and Gabe Walker; several nieces and nephews and bonus daughters Christine Jones of California and Carrie Vrablic of Wanchese. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Edward Etheridge, brother Ray Midgett and nephew Steve Midgett.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 14 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Cribb and Rev. Matt Seals officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Private burial will take place at Manteo Cemetery.
