Volunteers recognized at NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island

The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island recognized the invaluable work of its volunteers at a breakfast at Jennette’s Pier.

Aquarium volunteers handle everything from interpretation in the Sea Senses Gallery to feeding turtles in the Sea Turtle Assistance and Rehabilitation (STAR) Center to trimming shrubbery on the aquarium grounds and staffing special events.

In all, 160 volunteers provided 15,971 hours of service in 2018. At the breakfast, Cathy Dagg was named Volunteer of the Year, while Volunteer Team of the Year went to Tricia Kerns, Linda Turowski, Debbie Medlin and Anne and Terry Brown. Volunteers throughout the organization were also recognized.

Anyone who would like to volunteer with the aquarium can email david.trenor@ncaquariums.com. More information may be found at ncaquariums.com/roanoke-island.
