Joseph Arthur McGee, 73, of Kitty Hawk, died Friday, August 31, 2018, after a long illness.

Born in Pittsburgh on April 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Nora Coyne McGee and Joseph Arthur McGee.

Joseph was a beloved husband of 50 years. Also, as a father and grandfather, he always put his family first. Known to his grandchildren and family friends as “Papa Joe,” he was a self-employed entrepreneur and landlord for most of his life. He always approached people with a positive attitude and treated everyone with kindness and fairness.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Judith Lynne Cline McGee; three children, Darren McGee (Tania) of Gibsonia, PA, Damon McGee of Kill Devil Hills, and Dannon Dawson (Mike) of Powells Point; and six grandchildren, Caia and Aidan McGee of Gibsonia, Pa., Ryan and Jack McGee of Kill Devil Hills, and Case and Cline Dawson of Powells Point. Also, surviving are four siblings, Jeanne Cowden of California, Patricia Cicero of Florida, Paul McGee of Pennsylvania, and Marianne Reed (Jim) of Pennsylvania.

In keeping with Joseph’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choosing. Joseph donated to causes such as Wounded Warriors Project and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
